About Us
Who is NeighborWorks TOLEDO REGION?
Once known as Neighborhood Housing Services of Toledo, Inc. (NHST), started in 1976 by a group of residents in Toledo's Old West End neighborhood who were concerned about the spread of disinvestment in their historic area. NHST incorporated in 1977 and was equipped with capital resources for lending and infrastructure improvements. In 1978, NHST expanded to serve the Historic South Toledo and again in 1992, to serve East Toledo neighborhoods. In 1993, NHST became a chartered member of the NeighborWorks America®.
NeighborWorks America® is the country's preeminent leader in affordable housing and community development. They work to create opportunities for lower-income people to live in affordable homes in safe, sustainable neighborhoods that are healthy places for families to grow.
The NeighborWorks® Network delivers many of its community-focused programs and services through the National NeighborWorks® network - over 240 independent, community-based nonprofit organizations serving more than 4,500 communities. Together with its national and local partners, NeighborWorks® provides grants, programmatic support, training and technical assistance to its national network

We are a nonprofit corporation comprising of a partnership of neighborhood residents, financial institutions, local government and others.
The purpose of NeighborWorks TOLEDO REGION® (NTR), is to restore and revitalize the NeighborWorks® neighborhoods, primarily for the benefit of current and future inhabitants, by providing services and programs which renew pride, stimulate reinvestment and restore confidence and trust.

All our kids (big and little) left Salem Lutheran Church a piece of themselves to remember this awesome day. Pastor Mike, James, NeighborWorks Toledo staff and volunteers, and Barrow's Greenhouses made this a great first day. Greg brought flowers for the kids to plant and taught us all how to prepare our garden beds for plants and seeds. The kids decorated their own planters and took home a gardening book, some seed packets, and their own garden shovel to plant on their own. Fun!
These ladies did a fabulous job planning and organizing our NeighborWorks Week activities. Good job!
